Back in the spring of last year, I was driving to meet 11th Hour in Norcross, GA for an Atlanta Live filming. Anyone who has driven through Atlanta lately knows you better be prayed up and exercising extreme patience to make it.
I had mapped out how to get to the television studio, choosing the best route my GPS offered. I had to get tv-ready when I arrived so allowed myself plenty of time with extra to spare. As I got closer to the city, traffic started backing up. I stayed calm because I expected it. I started swapping lanes trying to get ahead. As I got to the necessary turn onto I-285, the interstate was closed. What?!
I started looking for an alternative route as I followed the re-routed traffic. Then, another closure. What?! I don’t have time for this!! I don’t get anxious about much but being on time for a live tv show is definitely one thing that gets me!
In that moment, I had the realization that God was possibly protecting me from something that was ahead. I had been so anxious that I was going to miss out on what was waiting for me. But, I definitely wanted God to protect me in getting me to where I was suppose to be.
Are you constantly swapping lanes on God? When one lane in life doesn’t seem to be moving quick enough, do you switch on your own effort to get ahead of what God is trying to do? God has a perfect plan for each of us. You could be missing out on a huge blessing by rushing it. God never intends on u-turns. And when there is a “lane closure”, trust Him for the why.
“But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Don’t end up with the thought in life, “I should have stayed in that other lane.”
